Trojans drop opening game of North Central Tourney to DePauw (Ind.)

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The Trinity International Trojans suffered from a cold night from the field, falling in the opening game of the Chicago Marriott Naperville Tip-Off Tournament, 85-39, to the NCAA Division III DePauw (Ind.) Tigers. Freshman Blake Mann led the team with 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting from off the bench, where he saw just 18 minutes of action on the day.
The Trojans (1-6) fell behind early and struggled to climb back into the game. DePauw scored the first nine points of the game, and had built a 13-point advantage midway through the first half, following a jumper from DePauw's Bob Dillon that made it a 18-5 lead. The Tigers' lead briefly reached 30 before the Trojans closed the gap slightly, to make it a 44-18 halftime score.
The Tigers (1-0) came out strong again in the second half, opening with a 15-0 run, before outscoring the Trojans 41-21 in the second half.
Trinity had a rough shooting night, going 15-of-58 (25.9%) from the field, and went 1-of-18 from three.
The Trojans will look to turn around and pick up a win tomorrow, when they take on Valor Christian (Ohio). Tip-off for the second game of the tourney is set for 2:30 p.m.
