DEERFIELD, Ill. -- A dramatic goal from sophomore Samantha Yasatan in the 89th minute forced overtime, but ultimately the Trinity International Trojans fell 2-1 in double overtime to the Trinity Christian Trolls, Tuesday afternoon at Schartner Field.

Although it was a sunny 75 degrees, conditions were less than favorable with a strong wind blowing across the field. But that didn't deter the Trojans (5-3-1, 1-0-1 CCAC) from fighting a hard battle. The first half proved itself to be exciting, yet scoreless. Both teams came out strong with quick shots on goal, forcing both goalkeepers to prove their skill. The Trojans relied heavily on their midfielders, with several shots attempted and many crosses kicked.

The second half started with lots of plays kicked out of bounds, however the Trolls (7-1-1, 2-0 CCAC) finally gained leverage with 27 minutes left in the half.  Trinity Christian's Morgan Madsen, aided by the wind,  unexpectedly scored from just outside the penalty box making the score 1-0 in favor of the Trolls.

After the first Trinity Christian goal, the ball changed possession as the Trojans dominated the end of the second half. After several shots taken from the top of the box, Yasatan, the team's leader in goals, scored her ninth of the season with only 1:30 left on the clock, tying the game 1-1 and sending the Trojans into overtime.

An intense first half of overtime ended with both teams goalless, despite many shots attempted from the Trojans. The second half started with a quick corner kick for the Trojans. But the ball was booted to the half line, where Trinity Christian's Rachel Webb broke away to score a careful kick to the bottom of the goal, winning the game for the Trolls with a final score of 1-2.

The Trojans, with a record of 5-3-1, will play at home again Friday, October 4th for the homecoming game versus Olivet Nazarene University. Kickoff against the Tigers is set for 4 p.m.
