EAST CHICAGO, Ind. – In one of the more heartbreaking losses of the season, the Trinity International men's soccer squad gave up the game-tying and game-winning goals in a span of five minutes, falling on the road to Calumet St. Joseph, 2-1, Saturday evening. The Trojans held a 1-0 lead in the 85th minute, before the Crimson Wave scored the equalizer. CCSJ then scored the game-winning goal with just seven seconds remaining in regulation to grab the win over TIU.

For the Trojans (1-7-3, 1-4-1 CCAC), winger Eric Yamane gave his team the 1-0 advantage with his goal in the 25th minute. The score would remain the same for the next hour in the match, as TIU would withstand an 11-5 shooting discrepancy in favor of the Crimson Wave. Goalkeeper Sean Avila made three saves in the first half, and five in the match for TIU.

The Crimson Wave (6-5, 3-2 CCAC) broke through in the 86th minute, when CCSJ's Stewart Thur put the tying score past the keeper. As both sides prepared for extra time, Thur attacked again, putting away his second goal of the match in the 90th minute to put Calumet ahead, 2-1. The Crimson Wave lead for approximately seven seconds of the entire match before stealing the win.

With the loss, Trinity International will now prepare for their Senior Day match, this next Saturday, October 19. The Trojans will face off against Cardinal Stritch at Schartner Field, with kickoff set for 2:00 p.m.
