DEERFIELD, Ill. -- The Trinity International Trojans held their ground against the conference leaders, but ultimately suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of the Cardinal Stritch Wolves, Saturday afternoon at Schartner Field.

The Trojans (1-8-3, 1-5-1 CCAC) worked hard to keep Cardinal Stritch off the scoreboard for the opening half hour, holding off a Wolves attack that held possession and outshot TIU 7-2 in the first half. Goalkeeper Kevin Montelongo made six saves in the match, including three before the break. Cardinal Stritch broke through in the 32nd minute, however, with Oliver Bell's goal, giving the Wolves a 1-0 edge that they would carry into halftime.

Six senior athletes were honored at halftime as part of the Senior Day festivities. Tyler Wilcox, Mitchel Wiseman, Joshua Michaelis, Josh Rosario, Greg Navitsky, and Jared Ventura were thanked for their hard work over the past four years in the TIU soccer program.

The Wolves (10-3-1, 6-1-1 CCAC) played spoiler on Senior Day with another score early in the second half. CSU's Christian Pedroza put away his team's second score of the day in the 50th minute to help secure the match.

Trinity International will bounce back for a mid-week, non-conference matchup at Illinois Tech. Kickoff against the Scarlet Hawks is set for Tuesday, October 22, at 7 p.m.
