DEERFIELD, Ill. -- As the Trinity International Trojans honored their seniors at halftime, a senior made the biggest play of the match, as TIU defeated the Cardinal Stritch Wolves, 1-0, Saturday afternoon at Schartner Field. In just her third appearance of the year, senior Jessica Williams scored the game-winner in the 48th minute to put her team on top.

The Trojans (7-4-2, 3-2-2 CCAC) outshot the Wolves in the first half 4-2, but were unable to find the back of the net, as CSU keeper Kara Casebolt stopped the lone shot on goal in the half, in her first appearance of the season. Both sides went into the break scoreless, although the Trojans had the higher number of opportunites, with three corner kicks in the half.

Five Trojan seniors - Katie Plowman, Abbey Wagenmaker, Jessica Williams, Ashley Bowman, and Nikki Roeder - were honored during a halftime Senior Day ceremony. All five players earned spots in the starting lineup, but it was Williams who came away with the best stat line of the day.

Williams put away her first goal of the season in the 48th minute, taking the pass from Samantha Yasatan and Morgan Elzinga, who were both credited with assists. Williams, who missed much of the season to injury, was making just her third appearance and first start before netting the game-winner.

Goalkeeper Liz Burzynski earned her fourth shutout of the season, improving her record to 7-4-2 on the year. This shutout may go down as one of the easiest in Burzynski's career, as the Buffalo Grove, Ill. native didn't need to make a single save on the day.

The Trojans pick up three important points in the CCAC playoff race with the win over Cardinal Stritch. TIU will now step out of league play for a mid-week matchup at Illinois Tech, on Wednesday, October 23. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
