TIU Volleyball drops match at St. Xavier

CHICAGO, Ill. -- Junior Victoria Boyd led the Trinity International Trojans with 12 points, including a pair of solo blocks, but the Trojans dropped a pair of close games in a straight set loss to the St. Xavier Cougars on Tuesday night, falling 25-22, 25-15, 27-25.
The Trojans (6-24, 4-12 CCAC) found themselves trailing 23-17 late in the first game, before Boyd's kill started a five-point run that brought TIU to within a point at 23-22. St. Xavier bounced back with three straight points to close out the 25-22 set.
With a 9-8 edge for TIU in game two, St. Xavier (13-13, 6-8 CCAC) reeled off a 10-1 run, en route to a 25-15 game, and a 2-0 lead in the match.
Trinity held game point in the third, and looked to extend the match with a kill from Boyd at 24-23. SXU scored the next two points to earn a match point of their own at 25-24. Boyd picked up her 10th kill of the night to hold off the Cougars. St. Xavier scored two straight again to close out the match with a 27-25 win.
Senior Allison Boggs led the Trojans with 18 assists, while Brittany Najera had 22 digs on the back line.
The Trojans return home for their last match of the season inside the Meyer Sports Complex, when they host Illinois Tech on Thursday, October 31, at 7:00 p.m.
