DEERFIELD, Ill. -- The Trinity International Trojans fought a good fight against the Olivet Nazarene Tigers, but ultimately fell in their homecoming matchup, 2-0, Saturday afternoon at Schartner Field.

ONU's Paddy Hoepp gave the Tigers a one-goal lead after scoring in the twentieth minute of the first half. Despite Olivet taking several shots on goal in the first half, hardly any were properly aimed. Trinity's defense, especially goalkeeper Kevin Montelongo, proved their skill by holding the score 1-0 into the second half. Montelongo played strong, blocking four of the ten shots taken on goal.

The Trojans (1-5-3, 1-2-1 CCAC) struggled offensively, taking 5 shots on goal throughout the game and not having any success. The second half provided three corner kicks in the span of two minutes for the Trojans, but no one was able to finish a shot. The Tigers outshot TIU 10-2 in the first half, and 14-5 for the match.

The Tigers (6-3-1, 3-1 CCAC) went on to score a slow rolling, on the ground shot after the goalkeeper Sean Avila came out of the box in an attempt to defend. This second goal by the ONU sealed the deal as a loss for Trinity.

The Trojans will take a short, three day break before they play away at St. Xavier University on Tuesday, October 8. Later this week, they will play at Calumet College of St. Joseph on Saturday, October 12.
