TIU opened up with a win in the opening game after a Panther attack error made it game point at 24-23. Melodee Aguirre capped off the win with one of her seven kills on the day to put the Trojans up in the match, 1-0.
Another tight game in the second set, Purdue-North Central took a narrow 23-22 lead with a kill, before Trinity responded with three straight points to take the game. Aguirre tied the score at 23-23 with another kill, then TIU took advantage of a PNC ball handling error and attack error to seal the win.
The third set started close, as both teams traded sideouts, until with the game tied 11-11, Trinity went on an 8-3 run to take a commanding lead. The Panthers would be unable to get back in the game, as TIU earned the 3-0 match victory.
The Trojans return home this week, where they prepare for a rematch with the Robert Morris Eagles on Thursday, October 10, at 7 p.m. inside the Meyer Sports Complex. The Eagles earned a 3-1 in win Arlington Heights earlier this season, as the Trojans will look to even the season series.
