CHICAGO, Ill. -- Trinity International snapped a two-match slide Wednesday night, earning a 1-0 road win over St. Xavier. Sophomore Samantha Yasatan extended her streak to eight straight matches with a goal scored, netting the game-winner in the 22nd minute.
The Trojans (6-4-1, 2-2-1 CCAC) earned their third shootout of the season, holding the Cougars (3-7-1, 1-4 CCAC) to seven shots throughout the match. Yasatan connected with Morgan Elzinga on a pass from the right side of the field, putting the ball past the keeper in the 22nd minute. The first half goal would stand up the rest of the way as the game-winner for the Trojans, who win their first match of the year with just a single goal scored.
Goalkeeper Liz Burzynski earned her third shutout of the year as well, making four saves in the win.
Trinity International wraps up their two-match road trip this Saturday, when they travel south to take on Calumet St. Joseph. Kickoff has been moved from it's original time, and is now scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
