Trojan women fall to No. 9 St. Xavier

CHICAGO, Ill. -- Freshman forward Basha Ramsey picked up her first career double-double, but the Trinity International Trojans shot just 32.4% from the field in a 87-46 loss at No. 9 St. Xavier, Wednesday night in Chicago. Ramsey led the Trojans with 15 points and 11 rebounds on the night.

Trinity International (1-3, 0-1 CCAC) held an early lead in the opening minutes, as DeAndra Wright gave TIU the lead with a three-pointer in the first minute of the game. TIU started out with three straight treys, with two from Wright and one from Abigail Hemmeger, to put the Trojans up 9-4 at the 18:12 mark.

The Cougars (2-0, 1-0 CCAC) answered with an 8-0 run to claim a 12-9 lead that they would hold throughout the rest of the game. Wright finished the first half with eight points to lead the Trojans, while Ramsey had recorded six points and six rebounds before the break.

After a 43-25 SXU lead at the half, the Cougars opened the second half on a 10-2 run, stretching their lead to 26 points at the 15:39 mark.

Along with Ramsey, Wright also reached double-figures with 10 points on the night.

The Trojans return to the Meyer Sports Complex this Friday, when they host the Goshen (Ind.) Maple Leafs at 7:00 p.m.
