MILWAUKEE, Wisc. -- Junior hitter Samantha Stoller finished with eight kills to lead Trinity International, but the Trojans suffered three straight losses to the Cardinal Stritch Wolves Tuesday night, falling in straight sets in the final regular season match of the year, 25-12, 25-19, 25-15.
The Trojans (7-25, 4-13 CCAC) held an early 4-2 lead in the opening set, but Cardinal Stritch reeled off seven straight points to take a 9-4 lead, which they held throughout the rest of the first game. Trinity's best chance to take a set came in the second, when they trailed late 23-18, but a pair of CSU kills over the last three points finished the game, giving the Wolves (25-11, 14-2 CCAC) a 2-0 lead in the match.
Trinity International got off to a strong start in the third, as Stoller dealt a back-to-back pair of service aces as part of a four-point run that put TIU ahead 8-5. Cardinal Stritch came back, tying the score at 12-12. CSU went on to score 13 of the next 16 points to close out the match, 25-15.
Setter Allison Boggs finished with 13 assists, while Gabrielle LaMonaca finished with five digs to lead the back line. Three Trojan hitters posted averages over .300, including Brittany Najera (.400), Stoller (.353), and Kali Cramer (.333).
