DEERFIELD, Ill. -- The Trinity International Trojans were unable to overcome a slow start, shooting 29.1% from the field in a 73-45 loss to the Trinity Christian Trolls, Saturday night inside Meyer Sports Complex. Senior Montanique Washington led the Trojans with 11 points, but was the lone TIU player to reach double figures on the night.

The Trojans (3-7, 0-4 CCAC) started in a nine-point deficit to start, as Trinity Christian opened up a 9-0 lead over the first three minutes of the game. After Basha Ramsey put her team on the board with a layup, the Trolls (3-8, 1-2 CCAC) stretched their lead to double-digits, when TCC's Rebecca DeHaan completed a three-point play to make it a 12-2 advantage.

Trinity International would clip the lead back down to single-digits, pulling within seven thanks to one of Washington's four field goals on the night, at the 10:07 mark of the first half. The senior guard finished with 4-of-8 shooting from the field, and a 3-of-7 performance from the free throw line.

The Trolls answered with another 9-0 run, going ahead 26-10 with 7:07 in the first half, with seven points coming from Caitlin Cody during the stretch. Trinity Christian would go into the halftime break with a 41-22 lead.

TIU were unable to cut into the Trolls' lead throughout the second half, as TCC slowly pulled away. Trinity Christian used a 49-37 rebounding advantage, as well as 22 points off 26 TIU turnovers to separate themselves throughout the night.

Five Trojans tied for the team lead in rebounds, with Washington, Ramsey, Daja Johnson, Abigail Hemmeger, and Rachel Carter all pulling down four. Washington and Hemmeger also finished with a team-high three steals.

The Trojans will continue their current four-game homestand next Saturday, when they continue CCAC play by welcoming the Judson Eagles into the Meyer Sports Complex. Tipoff on December 14 is set for 5:30 p.m.
