CLINTON, Iowa -- Sophomore Samantha Yasatan scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season, but the Trojans' women's soccer squad fell to No. 18 Ashford (Iowa), 3-1, in a road non-conference matchup Wednesday night.
Yasatan extended her scoring streak to three straight matches with a goal, and has scored in five of the Trojan's first six matches this season. The Saints (5-2) got the scoring underway first, as AU's Jordan Pisesky put away her second goal of the season in the 23rd minute. Yasatan answered quickly, taking the ball from sophomore Gina Collesano and scoring in the 27th minute; while the Racine, Wisc. native extended her team lead in goals scored, Collesano picked up her first point of the season with the assist.
The Trojans (4-2) went into the half with the score tied at 1-1, as the possession was relatively even. Both sides fired eight shots in the first half, while the Saints used a 7-4 shot advantage in the second session to gain an edge over TIU.
A pair of late goals pushed the Saints in front, first taking the 2-1 lead in the 80th minute from a goal scored by the Saints' Hollie Babut. Less than four minutes later, Ashford got the insurance goal, going up 3-1 in the 82nd minute from Sarah Schreck.
