DEERFIELD, Ill. - In what proved to be a very even match, the Trinity International Trojans were edged out 1-0, by the St. Ambrose (Iowa) Fighting Bees, Friday evening at Schartner Field. SAU's Charlie MacInnes scored the match's lone goal in the 64th minute to earn his team the win.

The Trojans (0-2-1) managed to out-shoot the Bees, 11-10, and had four of those shots on goal, as the St. Ambrose keeper was able to handle each one to earn the shutout.

Freshman midfielder Zach Reget (Kenosha, Wisc./Bradford HS) had a strong performance, leading the team with three shots and two shots on goal, playing 79 minutes on the pitch.

TIU put both of it's goalkeepers into the match, with senior Sean Avila (Winthrop Harbor, Ill./Zion-Benton HS) starting, and junior Kevin Montelongo (Palatine, Ill./Lewis & Clark CC) entering at the start of the second half. Avila held the Bees scoreless throughout the first 45 minutes of the match, and Montelongo had only the unfortunate situation of a penalty kick getting by as the lone score.

Trinity will hit the road next week, as the team heads to Nashville, Tenn. for a pair of matches on Friday and Saturday, September 13-14. On Friday, TIU will take on NCAA Division II opponent Trevecca Nazarene, before facing Cumberland (Tenn.) on a neutral pitch on Saturday. Both matches are set to kick off at 7:00 p.m.
