CLINTON, Iowa -- For the third time this season, the Trinity International Trojans faced off against the Ashford Saints, suffering a 65-47 loss on the road Monday night at Kehl Arena, on the campus of Ashford University. Senior forward Clarissa Woodard led the Trojans with 14 points on the night, on 4-of-11 shooting, and a 5-for-5 performance from the free throw line.

The Trojans (3-12) held an early lead, as Arielle Miree got the game underway with a three-pointer about ninety seconds into the game. TIU led the game for the first six and a half minutes, when Ashford (8-13) scored 20 unanswered points. At the end of the run, the Saints held a 22-6 edge with 5:46 to play in the first half.

Ashford's lead briefly reached the 20-point mark before Miree knocked down a pair of free throws to end the first half. The Saints held a 30-12 lead by halftime. The Trojans' 12 points was the team's lowest offensive output in a first half of any game this season, and the second-lowest of any half of play in 2013-14.

TIU chipped away at the Saints' lead to open play in the second half, as Miree's layup at the 14:49 mark made it a 32-23 Ashford lead. That would be as close as the Trojans would get, as the Saints outscored TIU from that point by a 33-24 margin.

Miree, along with JaToya Woods, making her second appearance for TIU this season, finished with seven points apiece, while freshman Basha Ramsey collected six points on the night.

The Trojans return home this Wednesday, when they host the Indiana-South Bend Titans in a CCAC clash at the Meyer Sports Complex. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
