CLINTON, Iowa -- Senior forward Clarissa Woodard led the Trojans with 12 points, scoring in double figures for the third straight game, but Trinity International shot a season-low 23.3% from the field in a 63-40 road loss at the hands of the Ashford (Iowa) Saints on Wednesday night.

The Trojans (3-10) were never able to hold a lead in the game, as Ashford jumped out to a 14-6 lead during the opening six minutes of play. TIU kept the score within a few possessions throughout much of the half, until another run from the Saints (7-12) stretched their lead to double digits on a three-pointer with 3:06 to play in the first half.

Ashford closed the half on a 10-1 run, and went into the break with a 13-point advantage, 34-21. Senior Abigail Hemmeger led the Trojans with eight first-half points, on 2-of-4 shooting with a pair of three-pointers.

A Rachel Carter free throw at the 14:35 mark of the second half closed the Saints' lead to 12 points, at 38-26; that would be as close as the Trojans would get after halftime, with Ashford answering with ten straight points for a 45-26 advantage with 11:38 remaining.

Trinity will resume CCAC action when they pay a visit to Holy Cross this Saturday, January 11. Tipoff in South Bend, Ind. is set for 1:00 p.m. CT.
