MILWAUKEE, Wisc. -- Freshman hitter
Mickayla Staal led Trinity International with nine kills, but the Trojans fell in straight sets on the road Wednesday night, 13-25, 16-25, 16-25, at Cardinal Stritch.

Trinity International rebounded in the second game, taking an 8-2 lead over the first ten points, highlighted by a pair of kills from Staal, and three straight attack errors from Cardinal Stritch. The momentum quickly switched to the other side of the court, as the Wolves scored 16 of the following 17 points to double-up the Trojans, 18-9. A CSU attack error followed by a solo block from
Lexie Voss killed the rally, but Stritch would go on to take a 25-16 win in the set.
Looking to extend the match, the Trojans used a four-point rally to tie the score at 7-7 in the third game, after kills from Staal,
Julie Gregornik, and a kill and block from Voss. Cardinal Stritch would stop the Trojans' rally before losing the lead, answering with a 7-1 run to claim a 14-8 advantage. The Wolves would use a four-point run of their own to extend their lead to 19-10, on their way to a 25-16 set win and sweep of the match.
TIU setter Suzanne Knudton led the Trojans with 23 assists on the night, while
Gabrielle LaMonaca anchored the back line with 14 digs. Voss posted five total blocks in the match, including a pair of solo blocks.
The Trojans are back in action next week, when they open the newly-renovated Meyer Sports Complex on Tuesday, October 14. Trinity International will play host to Robert Morris in the season's home-opener, starting at 7:00 p.m.
