SANTA CLARITA, Calif. -- The No. 22 Trinity International Trojans were unable to get into an offensive rhythm, as the No. 16 The Master's Mustangs defeated TIU, 4-1, in the NAIA Women's Soccer Championship Opening Round, on Saturday afternoon.
Box ScoreThe Mustangs' pressing attack stymied the Trojans, who had to battle for possession throughout the match. TIU were outshot 24-4 on the day, as the Master's managed two goals in each half.
Morgan Elzinga put the Trojans on the board in the 83rd minute, after pressure on the Mustang keeper led to a quick turnover;
Samantha Yasatan took the ball and fed Elzinga to her left for the score.
With the loss, the 2014 campaign comes to a close, but the Trojans finish one of the more historical seasons in recent memory. Five Trojans were named to the All-CCAC Team, Yasatan was named CCAC Player of the Year, senior Missy Loretto earned the program's first ever CoSIDA Academic All-American Award, and the team finished with 14 victories, the most in a single season since 2008.
