GARY, Ind. -- Thomas Amrine knocked down six three-pointers, matching his career high and leading Trinity International with 24 points, as the Trojans earned their second in in the last three games, 89-79, over the Indiana-Northwest Redhawks on Saturday afternoon.

The Redhawks battled back into the game in the opening minutes of the second half, scoring the first six points to make it a 48-40 Trojan lead. Indiana-Northwest would keep the margin mostly in single-digits, before a pair of free throws from
David Chatman stretched Trinity's advantage to 11 with 10:32 to play, 61-50.
The Trojans remained comfortably in front throughout the rest of the second half, despite IU-Northwest looking to get back into the game in the last 90 seconds; Nate Flores' three-pointer with 1:16 remaining cut the TIU lead to just six, 83-77, but Peeples, Amrine, and
Sam Salem would combine to go 9-for-10 from the free throw line to keep their lead intact. Over the course of the day, Trinity went 31-of-35 from the free throw line (88.6%), for their best percentage of the season.
"I am really proud of our group for the way they responded today," said head coach Boomer Roberts, after his team's second game in two days. "This is our fifth straight road game, and to win today after a difficult loss last night says a lot about the growth of our team."
Five Trojans would finish in double figures, led by Amrine's season-high 24.
Nate Ball and
James Glass both finished with 13 points, followed by 12 points for Peeples and 10 for Salem. Salem also picked up a career-high five steals in the win. "Thomas was great again today, Peeples has had a terrific few weeks, and our forwards - Nate, James, and DC [Chatman] in particular - really played well," said Roberts. "We have talked quite a bit about finishing games, and our performance at the line tonight shows the mental toughness of our guys."
Trinity will enjoy the Christmas holiday before returning to the Van Dixhorn Arena after the New Year. The Trojans will host a pair of NCCAA Division II opponents in Kuyper (Mich.) and Northland International (Wisc.) on Tuesday, January 6 and Friday, January 9.
