Box Score ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. -- In their next-to-last game of the regular season, sophomore JaToya Woods led the Trojans with 17 points, but Trinity International was unable to keep pace with the long-range shooting of the Robert Morris Eagles, falling 89-67 on Wednesday night. The Eagles took 38 three-point attempts, connecting on 13 (34.2%) on the night.
Trinity International (3-23, 0-17 CCAC) trailed from the start of the game, as the Eagles (15-10, 10-7 CCAC) posted the first six points of the game, and jumped out to an 11-4 lead in the early moments.
Senior Clarissa Woodard scored on a layup with four seconds remaining in the first half, cutting the lead to 46-35 at halftime. The Trojans shot over 41% (12-29) in the first half, but allowed seven three-pointers and 15 points off 11 turnovers to allow RMU to take the double-digit advantage. Woods posted eight points to lead TIU, while Basha Ramsey collected seven first-half points off the bench.
Woodard would answer again at the start of the second half, scoring four points during a 6-3 run that closed the Eagles lead to eight points at the 18:09 mark. A layup, assisted by freshman Rachel Carter, made it a 49-41 game in the early moments of the half.
Robert Morris put the game away with 16 unanswered points, however, including a pair of threes and seven consecutive TIU turnovers leading to the scoring drought.
Woodard posted double-figures with 15 points on the night, while three other Trojans collected seven points apiece. Ramsey led the team with eight rebounds, and senior Abigail Hemmeger dealt out a team-high five assists.
The Trojans will take on the St. Francis Saints this Saturday, beginning at 5:30. In the final game of the regular season, TIU will recognize the four Trojan senior as part of the Senior Night festivities.
