Box Score 2 ELGIN, Ill. -- The Trinity International Trojans allowed 13 first-inning runs between the two games of a doubleheader with the Judson Eagles on Monday night, falling behind early, as TIU fell in both matchups, 10-0 in game one, and 10-2 in game two. The Trojans suffered their fifth shutout of the season, before bouncing back with a pair of runs in the nightcap.
In the first game of the night, Judson (6-15, 2-0 CCAC) pounced for ten runs in the first inning, taking a 10-0 lead that they would hold the rest of the way. The TIU defense got into a rhythm after getting out of the first, as the Eagles had just one hit throughout the rest of the game.
The Trojans (0-10, 0-2 CCAC) threatened in the top of the first with a pair of singles from Ashley O'Brien and Victoria Livingston, but were unable to cash in before the end of the inning. Only one other Trojan reached base from that point on, when Tina Lebar reached base on an error in the fifth.
Judson batted around in the first inning of the second game as well, although they did not put away as many runs as they did in game one. The Eagles scored three runs in the first, followed by four runs in the second to again take a comfortable lead.
Trinity answered in the top of the third with a pair of runs, as a Jamie Stanton double drove home O'Brien, who led the inning off with the first of her two singles in the game. Stanton then scored on the next at-bat, when Livingston singled .
With one run in the fourth, then two in the fifth, Judson ended the game early on the run-rule in the fifth inning.
Trinity International will continue with their busy week, hosting the Trinity Christian Trolls on Tuesday afternoon. The doubleheader has been moved to the Heritage Park Athletic Complex in Wheeling, Ill., due to the wet conditions of the TIU Softball Field. First pitch against the Trolls is set for 3:00 p.m.
