Game Notes

This Week
The Trinity International Trojans softball team will kick off the 2014 season this week, when they travel to Florida over spring break for an eight-game swing. The Trojans will first take on their lone southern opponent of the season in Ave Maria (Fla.), before sqaring off against teams from Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.

Last Time Out
The Trojans finished one of the toughest seasons in recent history a year ago, going 0-33 on the year. This year's squad features a number of new faces, and will look to end the program's 54-game losing streak this week. Sophomore first basemanDanielle Donorovich returns to the squad after leading the Trojans with a .296 average a year ago. Also looking to lead TIU this year is junior catcher/outfielder Ashley O'Brien, who was the team leader in RBI in 2013. Looking to make an impact in their first season are a trio of freshmen; pitcher/outfielder Breanna Hansen, shortstop Jamie Stanton, and outfielder Justine Wigboldy. All three players, along with junior transfer Melodee Aguirre, will look to make an immediate impact this spring.

New Coach
Alyssa Fogerty begins her first season as head coach of the Trojans in 2014, after a successful four-year playing career at Taylor (Ind.). A career .358 hitter at shortstop, Fogerty plans to use her recent playing expertise in developing the Trinity softball program. Fogerty was a four-year starter at Taylor, and is the school record holder for most hits and most games played, while finishing second on the program's all-time doubles list.
