Trinity International falls in road matchup to the Eagles after a slow start at the plate.

Box Score BENSENVILLE, Ill. -- Without a hit until the fifth inning, the Trinity International Trojans suffered a tough outing at the plate Friday evening, eventually falling to the Robert Morris Eagles 9-2 in a single-game kicking off a three-game series this weekend. Trailing 4-0 in the early stages of the game, the Trojans eventually broke through, cutting the lead to 4-2 with a pair of runs in the sixth, but a five-run outburst from the Eagles put the game away in the bottom of the 8th.

Adam Vignola broke up what was at that point a perfect game, with his one-out single in the fifth inning. The Trojans (7-17, 3-8 CCAC) got on the board in the following inning, as Jon Grotelueschen started the rally with a leadoff single; Grotelueschen then scored on A.J. Bruner's single four plays later. Scott Krawiec put up the team's second run of the game thanks to an RMU fielding error.

Daniel Wawrzyniak pitched a strong 7 and 1/3 innings, allowing eight hits and five earned runs. Cameron Stanley had the team's best day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a pair of singles; Stanley was the only Trojan to record a multi-hit game on the day.

The Trojans will look to rebound in the series on Saturday, when they host the Eagles in a twinbill at the TIU Baseball Field on Saturday, April 12. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
