WHITING, Ind. -- Kicking off the final week of the regular season, the Trinity International Trojans dropped both ends of a doubleheader to the Calumet St. Joseph Crimson Wave on Tuesday afternoon, falling 16-1 in the first game, then 8-0 in game two.

In both games, the Crimson Wave struck for an early lead, plating a combined seven runs in the first inning of both contests. The TIU attack struggled to find much of a rhythm, with Samantha Payne's run in the second-inning standing as the only score for the Trojans on the day. Payne knocked the first base hit of the day for Trinity, then after advancing on a passed ball and a groundout, scored on a wild pitch to cut into the CCSJ lead and make it a 4-1 game.

The Trojans (0-24, 0-16 CCAC) had a chance to pull even closer in the third, when Ashley O'Brien and Jaime Weaver combined for back-to-back, two-out singles, then moved into scoring position on a walk drawn by Jamie Stanton. A fly ball ended the threat, however, as TIU left three runners on base without a score.

In game two, the offense struggled, as the Trojans collected just two hits in the game. O'Brien and Victoria Livingston hit a couple of leadoff singles in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively, but the Crimson Wave pitchers worked around the trouble without surrendering a run.

The Trojans return home Friday, for their final home games of the season. TIU will play host to Purdue-North Central on Friday, April 25, in a CCAC doubleheader. First pitch between the Trojans and Panthers at the TIU Softball Field is set for 3:00 p.m.
