Trinity International struggles at the plate in a doubleheader sweep at St. Francis (Ill.).

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 JOLIET, Ill. -- The Trinity International hitters had a tough time figuring out St. Francis (Ill.) pitching on Tuesday night, collecting one hit over both games of a doubleheader, falling to the Fighting Saints 13-0 in game one, and 9-0 in game two.

In the opening game, the Trojans (0-14, 0-6 CCAC) had a leadoff hitter reach base in the second and fifth innings, but were unable to capitalize. Victoria Livingston reached on a USF fielding error in the second inning, while Samantha Payneknocked the lone TIU base hit of the night with a single through right side.

In the nightcap, Trinity International threatened early with a pair of baserunners, as Jamie Stanton drew a two out walk, then reached second on another fielding error. Both runners were stranded, as the Saints pitchers went on to retire 13 straight to finish out the game.

On the mound, Payne and Breanna Hansen each suffered a loss, as both pitchers went the distance in each game.

The Trojans continue to look to pick up their first win this season when they host Olivet Nazarene on Thursday, April 10. Originally a home game, the doubleheader has been moved to Heritage Park in Wheeling, Ill. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
