Trojans fall to Pilots in road opener

Phil Parker scored the first goal of his collegiate career, but it wasn't enough, as the Trinity International Trojans fell on the road, 3-1 to the Bethel (Ind.) Pilots.

The Pilots (1-0) got on the board in the 21st minute with a goal from BC's Pedro Amaral. The TIU defense rebounded to hold Bethel throughout the rest of the first half, as the Trojans went into the break with a one-goal deficit.
Parker scored the equalizer early in the second half, recording his first goal of the year unassisted in the 53rd minute. The Pilots had a response in the 64th minute, scoring two quick goals in two minutes, to take a 3-1 lead.
Sophomore
Brad Stough recorded 13 saves in the match, while facing a total of 30 shots on the night. Stough's 13 saves is the most by a Trojan goalkeeper since at least the 2009 season; the previous high came last year, when
Sean Avila stopped 11 shots at Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) on Sept. 13.
The Trojans are back in action next Wednesday, September 3, when they travel west to take on the Clarke (Iowa) Crusaders. Kickoff in Dubuque, Iowa is set for 5:00 p.m.
