Men's Soccer falls on road to St. Ambrose

DAVENPORT, Iowa -- Junior Erik Yamane scored his second goal of the season to move into a tie for the team lead, but it wouldn't be enough, as the Trinity International Trojans allowed a pair of penalty kicks plus a late goal to fall to the St. Ambrose Bees, 3-1.

The Trojans held fairly even with the Bees in terms of possession, taking nine shots to SAU's ten, and had more shots on goal in the match, 4-3. TIU was called for a penalty in the 34th minute, giving SAU's Charlie MacInnes a PK, which he converted to give his side the early lead.

Yamane scored an equalizer shortly after halftime, after the Trojans earned a penalty from the Bees' defense in return. The Wheaton, Ill. native converted on his second PK attempt of the season to tie the match at 1-1.

A third penalty was called, again giving SAU a chance to take a one-goal lead. The Bees converted again to go in front 2-1. MacInnes earned the hat trick after scoring another goal in the 69th minute, as St. Ambrose closed out the match.

Along with Joseph Sanborn, who came on as a substitute, Yamane tied for the team lead with three shots taken in the match. Yamane also had a pair of shots on goal to lead the Trojans.

TIU will travel to Chicago next week, to take on Moody Bible in a Tuesday afternoon match. Kickoff in the non-conference affair is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
