Quick Notes
 • The Trojans close out the non-conference portion of the schedule this week, as TIU hits the road to face off against Moody Bible on Tuesday, then returns home for a match with Iowa Wesleyan on Thursday.
 • Trinity International suffered a 3-1 defeat on the road at St Ambrose (Iowa) last week to drop to 2-3 on the year.
 • Both opponents this week have not met up with the Trojans since at least 2007.
 • All home matches, including Thursday's contest with Iowa Wesleyan, will be available online, via the TIU Sports Network. All broadcasts can be found at TIUTrojans.com/TIUSportsNetwork.
Last Time Out  Â
 • Junior Erik Yamane scored his second goal of the season, but the Trojans fell 3-1 at St. Ambrose (Iowa) on Sept. 12.
 • Three penalty kicks were given in the match, with the Bees taking two of the three penalties to take a one-goal lead midway through the second half. SAU's Charlie MacInnes recorded a hat trick, with two penalty kicks and another goal in the 69th minute.
 • The loss snapped a two-game win streak for the Trojans, as TIU pulled back to within .500 with wins over Clarke (Iowa) and Lakeland (Wisc.) to start the month of September.
40th Anniversary  Â
 • This season marks the 40th anniversary of the 1974 NCCAA National Championship, won by Trinity College. The Trojans were one of four Christian colleges to be invited to the tournament, which was in its third year of existance.Â
 • Hosted by Covenant College (Ga.), Trinity College defeated Bryan (Tenn.) 3-2 in the semifinals, before earning a 2-1 win over Messiah (Pa.).
 • The 2014 squad will honor the NCCAA Champions with a special patch on their warmup jackets. The Trinity Soccer shield is featured in gold trim, along with a gold star above the shield, signifying the program's lone national title.
 • Since 1974, Trinity has made 5 appearances in the NCCAA National Tournament, most recently in 2008. The Trojans hold a 7-5 record in NCCAA Tournament play.
Scouting the Opponents
Moody Bible (Ill.)
 • Moody Bible has gotten off to a 2-3 start to the season, including a win over CCAC member Trinity Christian in their second match of the year.
 • The team is averaging 2.67 goals per game, which ranks 8th in the NCCAA Division II. Senior forward Jacob Persson leads the team and ranks 4th in the NCCAA with 1.67 goals per game, and is tied for the top spot in the NCCAA with five goals on the year.
 • Sophomore goalkeeper Kenny McBride is 8th in the NCCAA Division II with a 2.00 goals against average.Â

Iowa Wesleyan
 • The Tigers have had a rough start to 2014, and will look for their first win of the season when they come to Deerfield on Thursday.
 • IWC has been outscored 26-0 through three matches this season, including a 0-16 loss to Illinois College to open the season.
 • The Trojans and Tigers will meet for the first time this week since at least 2006.
Good Sports
 • For the second time in the past three seasons, the Trinity International men's soccer team earned the CCAC Karl Boeck Conference Champions of Character Team Award. The team honor goes to the squad that displays the best sportsmanship throughout the season in the CCAC, which the Trojans have earned in both 2011 and 2013.
 • Currently, Trinity is the team with the longest streak without a red card in the CCAC, and have gone five full seasons since seeing one of their players sent off. They were also one of three teams in the league (Olivet Nazarene, Trinity Christian) without a red card in 2013.
Goalkeeper Performances
 • Against Bethel (Ind.) on Aug. 26, sophomore Brad Stough made 13 saves in a 3-1 loss. His 13 saves are the sixth-highest single-match total in the NAIA to date.
 • The 13 saves were the most by a Trojan goalkeeper since 2008, when Lucas Zicher made 17 stops in a 2-1 loss to Hope (Mich.) on Sept. 5.
 • Stough currently leads the CCAC with an average of 10.5 saves per game over two matches played. The sophomore also tops the conference with an .808 save percentage, and is the only keeper in the CCAC above the 80% mark.
 • Senior Sean Avila has started the last three matches for the Trojans, and has a goals against average of 1.67, good for 8th in the CCAC.
