Quick Notes
 • The Trojans look for their first win of the season this week, with a pair of matches against non-conference opponents Clarke (Iowa), and Lakeland (Wisc.)
 • Trinity International suffered a 3-1 defeat on the road at Bethel (Ind.) last week to drop to 0-2 on the year.
 • The Trojans won their last meeting with Clarke, 2-0 at home in 2012; Friday will mark the first meeting between TIU and Lakeland since at least 2007.
 • Wednesday's match at Clarke will have live stats available, and can be found at ClarkeCrusaders.com
 • All home matches, including Friday's contest with Lakeland, will be available online, via the TIU Sports Network. All broadcasts can be found at TIUTrojans.com/TIUSportsNetwork.

Last Time Out
 • Sophomore Phil Parker scored his first collegiate goal, but the Trojans fell 3-1 at Bethel (Ind.) on Aug. 26.
 • The Trojans were outshot by the Pilots, 30-8, and 16-2 in the first half.
 • Sophomore goalkeeper Brad Stough made a career-high 13 saves, the most by any keeper in the CCAC this season to date, and the most by a Trojan goalkeeper since 2008.

40th Anniversary
 • This season marks the 40th anniversary of the 1974 NCCAA National Championship, won by Trinity College. The Trojans were one of four Christian colleges to be invited to the tournament, which was in its third year of existance.
 • Hosted by Covenant College (Ga.), Trinity College defeated Bryan (Tenn.) 3-2 in the semifinals, before earning a 2-1 win over Messiah (Pa.).
 • The 2014 squad will honor the NCCAA Champions with a special patch on their warmup jackets. The Trinity Soccer shield is featured in gold trim, along with a gold star above the shield, signifying the program's lone national title.
 • Since 1974, Trinity has made 5 appearances in the NCCAA National Tournament, most recently in 2008. The Trojans hold a 7-5 record in NCCAA Tournament play.

Scouting the Opponents
Clarke Crusaders

 • The Crusaders have gotten off to a 1-1 start this season, playing at the Calumet St. Joseph tournament over the weekend. Friday, Clarke earned a 4-3 win over the host Crimson Wave in extra time, but then fell to Campbellsville (Ky.), 8-0 on Saturday.
 • Sophomore winger Christian Cruz scored all four goals in the win over Calumet. His four goals on the season places Cruz 4th nationally in the NAIA.
 • The Trojans and Crusaders have met just once since 2007. Trinity defeated Clarke by a 2-0 margin at home on Sept. 13, 2012 in their last match, with Petro Giannakopoulos and Ike Akubuilo scoring for the Trojans.
Lakeland Muskies
 • The Muskies will take their first road trip of the season when they come to Deerfield on Friday. An NCAA Division III program, Lakeland opened their season last weekend, with a scoreless draw against Ripon (Wisc.).
 • Last season, Lakeland posted an overall record of 8-9-1, and finished 3-7 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, good for eighth place. The Muskies return six starters from 2013, including Mirko Tadic and Renan Asato, who scored a team-leading three goals each last year.
 • Friday marks the first meeting between the Trojans and Muskies, dating back to at least 2004.

Good Sports
 • For the second time in the past three seasons, the Trinity International men's soccer team earned the CCAC Karl Boeck Conference Champions of Character Team Award. The team honor goes to the squad that displays the best sportsmanship throughout the season in the CCAC, which the Trojans have earned in both 2011 and 2013.
 • Currently, Trinity is the team with the longest streak without a red card in the CCAC, and have gone five full seasons since seeing one of their players sent off. They were also one of three teams in the league (Olivet Nazarene, Trinity Christian) without a red card in 2013.

Goalkeeper Performances
 • Against Bethel (Ind.) on Aug. 26, sophomore Brad Stough made 13 saves in a 3-1 loss. His 13 saves are the highest single-match total in the NAIA to date.
 • The 13 saves were the most by a Trojan goalkeeper since 2008, when Lucas Zicher made 17 stops in a 2-1 loss to Hope (Mich.) on Sept. 5.
 • Stough currently leads the NAIA, with an average of 10.5 saves per game. The sophomore is also 4th in the nation, with 21 total saves.
