Trojans earn draw in CCAC opener at Judson

ELGIN, Ill. - Junior Samantha Yasatan found the back of the net for the sixth consecutive game, earning her team a point in the opening match of the CCAC season, as the No. 25 Trinity International Trojans earned a 1-1 draw on the road at Judson. The Eagles had taken a one-goal lead early in the second half, before Yasatan picked up her ninth goal of the season to tie the match in the 78th minute.

The Trojans (4-1-1, 0-0-1 CCAC) were outshot 13-7 in regulation by Judson, but goalkeeper Liz Burzynski kept her team in the match by making eight saves; the senior finished the night with nine saves overall, setting a new season high.

Judson (3-1-2, 0-0-2 CCAC) took the 1-0 lead in the 57th minute, when JU's Blanca Rubio dribbled into the box and fired a shot to put her team in front. With about 12 minutes remaining, Yasatan scored the equalizer off the assist from Melissa Loretto.

Trinity had a few chances in the extra session to score the game-winner, but couldn't get the ball past the Judson keeper. Yasatan had three shots in the first overtime, but two shots were saved and the other went wide.

The Trojans will return home on Saturday, Sept. 27 when they will welcome the Purdue-Calumet Peregrines. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m. as part of a TIU soccer doubleheader, with the men's match to follow.
