DUBUQUE, Iowa -- After surrendering a two-goal lead, the No. 25 Trinity International Trojans battled back on Wednesday night, earning a double-overtime victory in the 108th minute as TIU picked up their second straight win, 3-2 over the Clarke (Iowa) Crusaders. Junior Nikki Post scored the sudden-death game-winner for her second goal of the night to keep the Trojans undefeated in the early weeks of the season.

The Trojans controlled possession throughout much of the night, and out-shot the Crusaders 22-8, including a 12-4 advantage in the first half. Junior Samantha Yasatan put Trinity ahead in the 23rd minute, with her third goal of the season on an unassisted play. Post then extended her team's lead ten minutes later, scoring her first goal of the season in the 33rd minute.

Trinity took the first four shots of the second half and looked to have the match in control, before Clarke fought their way back into the game. CU's Devan Stieber brought the Crusaders back to within a single goal with her score in the 53rd minute. Then with 11 minutes to play in regulation, Lydia Storms scored the equalizer to force extra time.

The first overtime period was relatively quiet, with just two shots being taken in the ten-minute span. Those two shots, however, from Melissa Loretto and Yasatan, were on target, as the Clarke goalkeeper kept her team alive. In the 108th minute, with only about two and a half minutes to play, Post was able to find the back of the net to close out the win for TIU.

The Trinity goalkeepers faced just three shots on goal the whole night, as freshman Surina Lewandowski earned her first career start. Senior Liz Burzynski came on at the half to finish out the match and earn the win.

Freshman Michele Streekstra led the team with five shots taken, while Yasatan and Post each had a team-leading two shots on goal.

The Trojans will look to keep their perfect record intact, when they return home next week to face the Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats. Kickoff at Schartner Field is set for Tuesday, September 9, at 4:00 p.m.
