After a short lightning delay, the Trojans (2-2) controlled much of the first half, and even outshot the Muskies by a 5-3 margin before the break. With rain and more lightning potentially on the horizon, Lakeland's Renan Asato put his team in the lead with a goal in the 48th minute. Trinity looked to score the equalizer quickly, as any delay would likely end the game early due to darkness. Lakeland, however, managed to control the ball, as the Trojans managed just one shot for the first twenty minutes of the second half after looking strong earlier in the game.

In the 67th minute, Hoeflich found the back of the net to tie the game, connecting with Eric Yamane's cross from the right side. From that point, the Trojans started to turn the tide, taking more shots and earning more chances off corner kicks.

The weather started to slightly turn for the better, but before either side began thinking about extra time, Hoeflich put Trinity in the lead, heading in the winner off Chad Springetti's corner in the 78th minute.

Senior goalkeeper Sean Avila earned his second win of the season, making four saves while playing all 90 minutes in the win.

With the win, the Trojans improve to .500 and sit at 2-2 in the early season. Trinity International last sat above .500 in the 2012 season, when a loss to St. Xavier dropped the team to 3-3-1.

Trinity International will take the weekend off after a pair of weekday matches, and will begin to prepare for their match against St. Ambrose (Iowa). Kickoff against the Bees in Davenport, Iowa is scheduled for Friday, September 12, at 5:00 p.m.
