Quick Notes
 • The 25th-ranked Trinity International Trojans have gotten off to a perfect start in 2014, and will look to continue their winning ways through a pair of matches this week, at home against Indiana Wesleyan, and in their first test against a nationally ranked opponent at St. Ambrose (Iowa)
 • The Trojans remain one of 25 programs in the NAIA with perfect records, after taking a 3-2, double-overtime win at Clarke (Iowa) last week.
 • Trinity has averaged 5.0 goals per match this season, the 7th-highest average in the NAIA. With 2.0 assists per game, the Trojans rank 35th nationally.

Last Time Out    
 • Trinity International jumped out to a 2-0 first-half lead, but after two goals from the Crusaders, the Trojans needed a game-winning goal in double-overtime to knock off Clarke (Iowa), 3-2.
 • Junior Samantha Yasatan scored two goals for the second straight match, giving her team the early lead. Nikki Post planted the game-winner in the back of the net in the 108th minute to give the Trojans their second win of the year.
• Freshman Surina Lewandowski made her collegiate debut in the first half, keeping the Crusaders off the scoreboard, as the Trinity defense allowed just four shots with Lewandowski in net, none of them on target.

In the Polls    
 • Trinity International earned a spot in the NAIA Preseason Coaches Poll, released Aug. 19, earning a No. 25 ranking. The appearance gives TIU their third straight campaign in which they were nationally ranked at some point during the season.
 • The Trojans finished off last season as a nationally-ranked program, finishing the year at No. 25, after their late postseason run through the CCAC Tournament and into the NAIA Opening Round.
 • This season marks the first year the Trojans open a season as a nationally-ranked team in seven years. In 2007, TIU ranked No. 14 in the Preseason Poll.
 • TIU has been ranked in the Preseason Poll five times in program history, since the poll began in 1999. (2000-2002, 2007, 2014)
 • The Trojans dropped one spot in the NCCAA Top 10 national rankings, released last Wednesday, to No. 8. TIU is the second-highest ranked program out of the North Central Region, behind only Trinity Christian at No. 6.

NCCAA Championship Anniversary    
 • The TIU women's soccer program is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of their second NCCAA National Championship, in 2004. The team will be honored with an anniversary sleeve patch on this year's uniforms, and will be recognized during the match against Calumet St. Joseph, as a part of the Homecoming Weekend festivities.
 • The Trojans defeated Heritage Christian (Ala.), Cedarville (Ohio), and Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) by a combined score of 7-1 to claim the title.
 • Four players (Allison Budden, Kelly Campbell, Jill Barre, Ashleigh Dellos) were named to the NCCAA All-Tournament Team; Barre earned Tournament MVP honors, while head coach Patrick Gilliam was named NCCAA National Coach of the Year.
 • Trinity has made seven appearances in the NCCAA Tournament in program history, winning twice, in 2004 and 1998. TIU holds a 15-6 record all-time in the tournament.

Stat Leaders
Team Stats

 • As a team, Trinity International leads the CCAC with an average of 5.0 goals per match. The Trojans rank 4th in the league in total goals, with 10.
 • The Trojans currently average the second-fewest fouls per match, at 5.5. Only Calumet St. Joseph (5.0 fouls per match) has fewer.

Individual Stats
 • Samantha Yasatan leads the CCAC with an average of 2.0 goals per match. She is also tied atop the total goals leaderboard, with four goals, along with Mayte Carillo-Benavides and Karina Cain, both of Holy Cross. Nationally, Yasatan is 5th in the NAIA in goals average, and 35th in the nation in total goals.
 • Yasatan is also the conference leader in points per match, at 4.0. she is one point off the overall lead, trailing Carillo-Benavides, who has nine. She also ranks 9th in the NAIA in points per match.
 • Morgan Elzinga ranks third in the CCAC with two assists on the year. Her 1.0 assist-per-match average is tied for the league lead with three other players. She also ranks 13th nationally in the NAIA in assists per match.

Scouting the Opponents
Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats

 • The Wildcats have gotten off to a 1-3 start this season, falling last Friday at home to Indiana Tech, 2-1. After winning over Marygrove (Mich.) in the season opener, IWU has dropped three straight.
 • Last season, IWU went 8-8-1, with a fourth-place finish in the Crossroads League, and a quarterfinal appearance in the conference tournament.
 • This year Katie Pannabecker currently leads the team with two goals scored. The junior had the game-winning goal over Marygrove earlier this season.
 • Goalkeeper Megan Weiss has played all 360 minutes so far this year, making 10 saves and posting a GAA of 1.50.
 • The Trojans and Wildcats last met in 2007, when Indiana Wesleyan took a 2-0 victory in Marion on Sept. 7.

#21 St. Ambrose Bees
 • After opening the year with a 1-0 loss to NCAA Division I Northern Iowa, the Bees have been unbeaten in four straight matches, and come into this week with a 3-1-1 overall record.
 • St. Ambrose reached the NAIA National Championship last season, falling in the Opening Round to Davenport (Mich.).
 • The Bees rank 5th in the NAIA with three shutouts already in the season. Goalkeeper Morgan Lynn's goals-against average of 0.38 is 18th-best in the nation.
 • Tori Novak leads SAU with three goals on the year, including a two-goal performance in the win over Wisconsin-Platteville on Sept. 3.
 • The Trojans earned the 3-2 win at home last season against St. Ambrose on Sept. 6. Morgan Elzinga scored the game-winning goal in the 53rd minute to give the Trojans what was then a perfect 4-0 record.

Good Sports
 • For the third straight season, the Trinity International women's soccer team earned the CCAC Karl Boeck Conference Champions of Character Team Award. The team honor goes to the squad that displays the best sportsmanship throughout the season in the CCAC.
 • Currently, Trinity is one of two programs with the longest streak without a red card in the CCAC, and along with Trinity Christian, have gone five full seasons since seeing one of their players sent off.
