DEERFIELD, Ill. - Sophomore Alida Knudston led Trinity International with nine kills, as the Trojans grabbed an opening set win but ultimately fell in four to the Cardinal Stritch Wolves, 25-17, 10-25, 15-25, 15-25, Tuesday night inside Van Dixhorn Arena.

Gabby Miller doubled-up the Wolves (25-10, 10-3 CCAC) at 14-7. With a block and three kills from three different Trojans, Trinity closed out the set by winning the final four points to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Stritch answered early in the second game, scoring an eight-point run to claim a 9-2 lead. Another seven straight put CSU in front 19-5, as the Wolves went on to tie the match at one set apiece.
The visitors jumped out to another early lead in the third, taking a 11-4 advantage before back-to-back kills from
Mickayla Staal and Dieringer closed the gap to within five. That would mark the closest TIU would get the rest of the way as the Wolves went on to take a 2-1 lead overall.
An 8-0 run in the third put Stritch in front 13-3 midway through the set. Trinity put up a five-point run of their own, which included an ace from Staal, kill from
Alida Knudtson, and a block from Knudtson and
Morgan Strate at 21-13, but the Wolves would finish out the match six points later.
Becca Kowalczuk led the defense with 12 digs on the night, while Suzanne Knudston collected 29 assists.
The Trojans return to Van Dixhorn Arena as one of seven teams competing in the CCAC Crossover, hosted by Trinity International on Friday-Saturday, October 23-24. Tipoff of the first session gets underway at 2:30 p.m.
