Second half drought sinks Trojans in season finale

JOLIET, Ill. -- Forward Basha Ramsey finished with a game-high 23 points, as Trinity International held a brief second-half lead, but the Trojan offense struggled down the stretch, falling on the road to the St. Francis Saints, 83-59, Saturday night in the 2015 season finale.

Daja Johnson also finished in double figures for TIU, finishing with 11 points on the night.

The Trojans fell behind early in the first half, as USF claimed a 19-point advantage with a pair of free throws at the 8:30 mark, to make it a 29-10 score. Trinity battled back, slowly chipping away at the lead until Ramsey scored on back-to-back possessions, and JaToya Woods hit a pair of free throws in the last minute of play, to finish a 13-2 run by the Trojans. Despite their big lead, St. Francis went into the break with just a one-point edge, 36-35.

USF managed a narrow lead in the first few minutes after the break, but Johnson's three-pointer with 14:40 to play gave the Trojans their first lead of the night, 50-49. USF's Cristina Ekhomu scored on the next possession to put the Saints back in front with a lead they would hold on to the rest of the way. Trinity would be outscored after Johnson's three by a 34-9 margin as the Saints pulled away.

The Trojans finish the 2014-15 season, posting a final record of 2-27, and 1-17 in the CCAC.
