ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. - Taking advantage of close victories in the first and third sets, Trinity International earned the season sweep over Robert Morris on Thursday night, winning 25-23, 21-25, 25-23, 25-15.

Alida Knudtson led the Trojans (9-19, 3-7 CCAC) with a season-high 11 kills on the night, while hitting .296 to lead the team. Freshman setter
Kayla Jacks posted a new career high with 37 assists.
Trinity would jump out to a 5-2 start in the opening set, before Robert Morris (4-20, 2-10 CCAC) would take a narrow lead at 6-5 and 7-6. The Trojans would remain in control throughout most of the middle portion of the game, but an 8-2 rally for the Eagles would put the home team in front 19-16. Kills from Knudtson and
Mickayla Staal along with a
Becca Kowalczuk service ace would fuel a 7-1 run to reclaim a lead at 23-21. Knudtson's sixth kill of the set would clinch the win, 25-23.
Looking to take game two after a four-point run capped by the block from Knudtson and Jacks at 12-7, Trinity's lead slipped away as Robert Morris responded with nine of the next eleven points, giving the Eagles a 16-14 edge.
Ashlyn Spay would tie the game with an ace at 16-16, bur RMU pulled away with a 7-1 run, going on to even the match with a second-set win.
Another close battle thoughout the third, as Trinity would lead early, but Robert Morris would tie the game at 12-12. A quick 4-1 rally gave TIU the edge, with two more kills from Knudtson to make it a 19-16 game. Robert Morris pulled to within one point at 22-21, but two key blocks from Staal, Spay, and
Lexie Voss pushed the Trojans to the finish line, 25-23.
The Trojans broke through early in the fourth set to close out match, winning six in a row to start and going on to take a 13-4 lead with two straight kills from Staal. Trinity would hold a comfortable lead the rest of the way, as
Marissa Boelter's kill on the team's second match point would close out the win.
With the win, TIU matches their highest win total in the last five seasons, equaling the 2012 and 2014 campaigns with nine victories.
The Trojans return to Van Dixhorn Arena for their next match, on Tuesday, October 18. Trinity will host the Cardinal Stritch Wolves, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
