Alyssa Doomis and
Valerie D'Ambrosio each collected two base hits in the first game, and each collected one of the Trojans' (9-28, 3-20 CCAC) three RBI in the game. After St. Ambrose (32-15, 13-8 CCAC) took a 4-0 lead with two runs in the 1st and 2nd innings,
Emily Doomis put Trinity on the board with a leadoff homer to left. The next two Trojans singled, setting the table to D'Ambrosio to drive home
Alyssa Doomis on a single up the middle.
The Bees responded by extending their lead with four more runs in the 5th, before
Alyssa Doomis' double to left center allowed
Taylor Carli to score, making it an 8-3 ballgame en route to a 10-3 final score.
Following the Senior Day celebrations for D'Ambrosio,
Danielle Donorovich, and
Tori Livingston, Trinity jumped out to a big lead in the bottom of the 2nd during game two, taking advantage of two SAU fielding errors to score once and load the bases for Stanton. The junior's smash to left center was her third of the season, and the team's second grand slam in the last two days, following Livingston's shot against Robert Morris on Tuesday. The Bees got one run back in the top of the 3rd, before umpires called the game due to wet conditions in the middle of the 3rd.
A makeup date for the remainder of game two is still to be decided, but will occur before the start of the CCAC Tournament, which begins Thursday, May 5.
