SPRING ARBOR, Mich. - Beginning the 2016 season against the NAIA's national defending champions proved ot be as tough an opening draw as expected, as Trinity International suffered a 5-0 road loss to No. 1 Spring Arbor (Mich.) on Friday night.

The Trojan attack struggled to earn chances at goal, as the host Cougars (2-0) fired 31 shots, with 14 shots on goal. Spring Arbor got on the board early, with a 5th-minute goal from outside the box. Another score in the 21st minute put SAU in front by two goals at the break.
The Cougars struck again at the start of the second half, taking advantage of a corner kick in the 49th minute to go ahead 3-0. Two more late goals resulted in the 5-0 final score.
Surina Lewandowski earned the start in goal, finishing with seven saves on the night.
The Trojans (0-1) are back at it again on Saturday, when they take on the Concordia (Mich.) Cardinals. Kickoff from Ann Arbor, Mich. is set for 1:00 p.m. CDT.
