DAVENPORT, Iowa - Four Trojans finished with seven or more kills Tuesday night, but Trinity International ultimately dropped a four-set match at St. Ambrose 22-25, 25-20, 11-25, 21-25.

Ashlyn Spay picked up a team-leading ten kills on the night, nearly finishing with a double-double by recording nine digs.
Gabby Miller and
Alida Knudtson each had eight kills, and Knudtson hit for a .400 average to lead the Trojans (4-13, 1-1 CCAC).
After falling behind 16-10 midway through the opening set, Trinity rallied to tie the game at 19-19 with a four-point rally highlighted by three St. Ambrose errors and a kill from Spay. The Bees (5-10, 2-2 CCAC) would close out the set on a 6-3 run to take the early lead.
In a tight second set that didn't see either team take a commanding lead, Miller extended the Trojans' lead with her kill at 21-18. St. Ambrose would take the next two points before TIU closed on a four-point rally to even the match at one set apiece.
St. Ambrose took control of the match with a 14-point victory in the third set. Down 20-12 in the fourth, TIU used a seven-point rally to climb back in the match at 20-19, but were never able to even the score before the Bees took a 25-21 set victory.
Defensively,
Becca Kowalczuk picked up 12 digs for the Trojans, while
Marissa Boelter collected 11. Freshman setter
Piper Thompson recorded a new career high with 33 assists.
The Trojans now prepare for Thursday night, when they host St. Xavier for a CCAC match inside Van Dixhorn Arena. Tipoff with the Cougars is set for 7:00 p.m.
