ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. - A tough shooting night put No. 11 Trinity International behind early, as the Trojans dropped the CCAC Tournament championship game to 7th-ranked Robert Morris, 92-77 on Monday night.

"We just flat out didn't play very well tonight, and RMU played great," said TIU head coach
Boomer Roberts. "They were deserving as the better team tonight, but we'll learn from this."
Shooting 37.3% (25-67) from the field, the Trojans (28-5) struggled to keep pace with the Eagles (26-6), who jumped out to a quick 13-6 lead in the opening minutes. A
Henry French three-pointer at the 11:17 mark closed the gap to 26-21, but Robert Morris would respond with a 13-2 run, expanding their lead to 40-25 with 4:18 remaining in the first half.
French would lead the Trojans with 10 first half points, but TIU trailed 53-37 at the break. Robert Morris would expand their lead in the second half, going up by as much as 24 points with 12:26 remaining, 77-53. Trinity would close the gap down the stretch, but ran out of time before completing the comeback.
Grant Corsi and
Jeremy Carlyle led the Trojans with 14 points apiece, with Carlyle connecting on four three-pointers on the night. French tallied 12 points, while
Luke Mead came off the bench for 11.
The Trojans' postseason run will continue, with the NAIA Men's Basketball Division II National Championship. TIU will learn their opponent and game times when the bracket is released during a live selection show on Wednesday, Mar. 1 at 6:00 p.m.Â
