Baseball falls to Robert Morris in doubleheader sweep

BENSENVILLE, Ill. - Trinity International struggled to keep the home team off the basepaths Saturday afternoon, as Robert Morris would pound out a combined 30 base hits in a doubleheader sweep over the Trojans, 18-4 in game one, and 10-0 in game two.

Box Scores: Game 1 | Game 2

Senior third baseman Adam Gomski went 4-for-5 at the plate in the first game of the day, finishing with the Trojans (8-14, 0-6 CCAC) best performance at the plate in either contest.

Robert Morris (13-16, 2-3 CCAC) jumped out early, scoring four runs in the 1st inning. Trinity responded in the top of the 4th, when Michael Balistreri drove home Jeff Lindberg for the team's first run of the day, cutting the score to 5-1. The Eagles then pulled away with eight runs in the 4th and five more in the 5th to secure an eventual 18-4 final score.

The Trojans would fall behind early again in game two, surrendering two runs in both the 1st and 2nd innings. Chris Isaac would get the Trojans' first hit of the game iwth a leadoff single in the 3rd, and Gomski would single to start the top of the 4th, but both frames would see RMU retire the side without allowing a run. After six runs over the final three innings, including four scores in the bottom of the 6th, the Eagles would end the game early with a 10-0 result.

Trinity will now prepare for a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon, April 4, at Trinity Christian. First pitch with the Trolls is set for 1:00 p.m.
