VanderNaald produced all of the Trojans' (14-28, 5-19 CCAC) offense in the first game of the day, following
Michael Balistreri's single with a two-out, two-run homer in the 5th inning. Despite leaving multiple runners on base in four different innings, Trinity were unable to push across any additional runs, while Calumet (7-41-1, 2-22 CCAC) used three runs in the 4th and two more in the 5th to secure the win.
In the second game of the day, senior
Adam Gomski put the Trojans ahead early, driving home
Jeff Lindberg on a sacrifice fly in the 1st inning.
Gomski then pitched seven and two-thirds innings, allowing just two runs while working around seven hits and striking out four. Calumet would tie the game in the bottom of the 4th with a bases-loaded walk, and go ahead 2-1 in the 8th inning with a sacrifice fly.
Left fielder
Zach Kentner finished 2-for-3 in game two, the only Trojan to have multiple hits in the game. In game one, VanderNaald would finish 2-for-3, while
Jeremy Vroman collected a pair of singles, finishing 2-for-4.
Trinity will now prepare for their final CCAC series of the year, when they take on St. Ambrose for a three-game set beginning on Friday. First pitch from Davenport is set for 4:00 p.m.
