Ethan Jarvis put the Trojans (10-15, 2-7 CCAC) on the board in the bottom of the first, driving home
Nick Gehrt and
Jeff Lindberg with a two-out single. Roosevelt pitcher Matt Dunne would settle in afterwards, not allowing a hit over the next three frames. During that time the Lakers (7-16, 3-7 CCAC) would tie the game with a pair of runs in the 4th, then take the lead with two more in the 5th.
The visitors would add to their lead with runs in the 7th, 8th, and 9th, before the Trojans would rally late. Following a leadoff walk from
Jeremy Vroman and a two-base wild pitch, sophomore
Oscar Cordova would drive in his first career RBI on a groundout. Another fielding error and walk would set the table for
Adam Gomski's two-out, two-RBI double to right. The Trojan rally would end before completing the comeback however, despite the three runs in the bottom of the 9th.
Gomski led the Trojans with a pair of hits, going 2-for-4 with a walk and two RBI on the day.
The Trojans will wrap up the current series with Roosevelt tomorrow afternoon, with a doubleheader from Standard Bank Stadium in Crestwood, Ill., beginning at 1:00 p.m.
