CHICAGO, Ill. - In their second matchup with St. Xavier University this season the TIU Volleyball tea came up just short of their eighth conference win of the season, suffering a four set loss to the Cougars on Thursday evening.
After the Cougars took the opening set of the match the Trojans stormed back with a second set win to even things out at one set a piece. With the set tied 17-17 the Lady Trojans rattled off 8 of the final 9 points to win the set 25-18.
Despite their efforts in the second set the offense from the Cougars was too much for the Trojans to overcome as SXU would close out the match with wins in the third and fourth set to defeat teh Trojans 3-1.
Brianna Torres once again was the offensive catalyst for TIU, registering a team high 18 kills in the loss.
TIU will look to bounce back this weekend as they head to Iowa for to play a pair of matches in the Waldorf Tri-Match.
