DEERFIELD, Ill. - In their final game of the 2018 season the TIU Football team came up short in a tightly contested battle with St. Francis, suffering a 26-7 loss to the Saints on Saturday afternoon.
The Saints opened the game with 20 unanswered points, all coming before the halftime break. Despite trailing by three scores the Trojans had their opportunities on offense to get back into the game, and the majority of those came from the strong play of Freshman QB
Ryan Heath.
Heath opened the second half hitting consecutive throws before leading the Trojans on a seven play 82 yard drive that was capped off by a 21 yard
Derek Lowe touchdown run to get TIU right back into the game.
The Trojan defense played arguably their best game of the season, but despite holding the Saints in check the Trojans could not find the end zone for the remainder of the game. A late touchdown in the fourth quarter from USF made it a three score game once again that the Trojans were unable to recover from.
Heath finished the day with a career high 351 passing yards while going 28-53 throwing the ball.
The Trojans will now look towards the offseason and prepare for the upcoming 2019 season in August.
