CHICAGO, Ill. - After winning their first CCAC Tournament since 2009 the TIU Volleyball team came up short against the CCAC Champions, suffering a 3-0 loss to St. Xavier University on Thursday night.
It was a back and forth opening set between the two teams to open the match. St. Xavier quickly jumping out to a 13-10 lead. Despite trailing the Trojans rallied back to take a 14-3 midway through the set. With the one point advantage it was the Cougars who went on a roll in the final moments, taking the opening set 25-21.
After taking the opening set the Cougars continued to have success offensively throughout the remainder of the match, taking the second and third sets to close out a 3-0 win over the Trojans.
Brianna Torres led the ay for TIU on the evening, finishing the match with a team high 7 kills.
