DAVENPORT, Iowa. - It was a tough afternoon for the TIU Baseball team as the Trojans put forth another strong effort but came up short after suffering a 1-0 defeat in game one of the doubleheader before losing 12-1 in game two on Wednesday evening.
In game one of the day the Trojan's and Bee's battled it out all afternoon long, with neither team able to get anything going offensively. TIU tallied 7 total hits on the afternoon, while the Bee's mustered just two. Though the Trojans outhit SAU it was the Bee's that would score the games only run on an RBI single that gave Saint Ambrose a 1-0 they would never relinquish.
Skyler Jankowski was stellar on the mound, firing 6 innings, allowing just 2 hits and 1 run in the loss.
Game two saw the Bee's bats come alive, totaling 16 hits and 12 runs. The Trojans finished the game with 8 hits of their own but were only able to push across one run in their second game of the day.
The Trojans will make the short trip down to the city tomorrow afternoon for one 9 inning game against St. Xavier University at 3 PM.
