ELGIN, Ill. - It was a hard fought pair of games, but the TIU Softball team came up short in the final two games of the NCCAA North Central Regional Championship, losing game one 4-1 before falling 6-4 to the Eagles in the final game of the tournament.
In the opening game of the day the Eagles used a four run second inning, and solid pitching throughout the game to take down the Trojans. The eagles led the inning off with a home run and followed by taking advantage of a Trojan error that helped plate three more runs.
Trinity International had their opportunities down the stretch, and picked up a run in the 5th inning, but would leave the bases loaded and come up short 4-1 in game one.
Game two saw the Trojans jump out to the early lead after a
Gina Loy sac fly and a
Tenley Bozzi solo HR.
Grace Magnuson was solid on the mound through the early going of the game, but a pair of three-run homers in the 5th inning put Judson up 6-3, and they wouldn't relinquish the lead the rest of the way.
The Trojans will now wait and see if they receive an at-large bid to the NCCAA National Tournament, with the tournament field expected to be announced tomorrow afternoon.
