BOTETOURT, VA. - In what would be their final game of the 2018 season the TIU Softball team came up just short of making the National Semi-Final on Thursday, suffering a late 1-0 loss to Judson University at the NCCAA World Series.
After going 1-1 in pool play the day before the Trojans drew the #4 seed after all of the teams were reseeded. After being named the #4 seed the Lady Trojans would once again play CCAC rival Judson University for the 6th time this season.
Junior pitcher
Taylor Carli was dominant once again inside the circle for the Lady Trojans, allowing just three hits over 7 innings.
TIU would outhit the Eagles 6-3 but Judson got the biggest hit of the game when it mattered most.
With no outs in the top of the 7th inning Judson Catcher Sarah Friedlund drove a 1-0 pitch over the centerfield wall to make it a one run game, and end the Trojans season.
The 2018 campaign marks the most successful season for TIU since 2007 as Trinity International finished 29-19 after making their first postseason appearance since '07.
