BOURBONNAIS, Ill. --- The Trinity International University football team wrapped up their 2019 season on the road against the Olivet Nazarene University Tigers at Ward Field on Saturday afternoon. Having struggled for much of the season, TIU looked to close the season out on a positive note.
The Trojans struggled to contain the highly effective passing game of Tigers quarterback Jordan Lawton, who threw for 421 yards through the air and nine total touchdowns on the day in the Tiger's 84-7 victory. Additionally, ONU's David Hutton, Jared Honey, and LaShaun Rule were all able to pickup double-digit yardage on the ground for the Tigers. ONU capitalized on touchdowns on nine of their 16 possessions without turning the ball over.
Trojans punter Carter Andrade kept busy on the day as he recorded seven punts for a total of 161 yards, averaging 23 yards per punt. Through the air, TIU quarterback Nolan Brammer completed 15 of 27 passes for 107 yards, but threw three intercepted passes. On the ground, Derek Lowe provided TIU's lone score of the game in the first quarter as he would end the afternoon with 96 net rushing yards on 18 carries. Defensively, Lemon Reese compiled nine total tackles on the day, while Ryan Larkin notched six, and Moses Smith recorded five.
The Trojans end the 2019 season with a record of 1-10 overall, and 0-6 in the Mid-States Football Association-Midwest League. TIU averaged 12.5 points per game and 370.8 all-purpose yard. The Trojans enter the offseason with six graduating seniors departing the program, with a large number of young, energetic athletes looking to step up in 2020.
